Shop the Furniture in the Dream Home
This year's Colorado Springs Dream Home leans into a fresh, modern, contemporary look with a warm, earthy soul. Designed by Furniture Row's Interior Designer and Buyer, Barb Chandler, the home draws inspiration from today’s interior design trends, including some she spotted during her recent trip to Europe: lots of greens, rich earth tones, and soft, curved shapes that add warmth and dimension.
The home itself already came with trending design elements built right in, from an inviting green entryway and colorful curtains to industrial and organic modern fixtures throughout.

"I noticed right away that the home had many on-trend details, so I wanted to create a space full of what people are currently looking for. I was thinking about shoppers who live in smaller spaces and want functional pieces with personality, so I chose furniture that leaned into those elements." - Barb
You will see that philosophy everywhere. Curvy, rounded silhouettes and organic greens and earth tones set the mood, while multifunctional pieces solve the storage challenges that come with everyday living. It’s a home that feels current and stylish, but also very livable.
Let's take the full tour, room by room.
The Living Room
The living room sets the tone for the whole home with its warm, earthy palette. A rich truffle-brown sofa and matching love seat anchor the space, joined by a leather accent chair for a touch of character. A round wood coffee table and end table bring those signature curves into the mix, while quietly offering extra storage.
Next, Barb found a mid-century modern server to instill retro style and functional storage. A light, soft-toned rug grounds everything with brown and gray accents, while a sleek glass table lamp adds a clean, modern glow. It is proof that earth tones don’t have to feel heavy.
The Dining Room
The home's open floorplan flows right from the living room into the dining room, where a sleek black-and-brown dining table and matching chairs create a modern, polished setting. To tie the open space together, Barb carried the same living room rug through the dining area, repeating that soft pattern and texture for a seamless flow.
Over at the kitchen island, black counter-height stools from the Lumen dining collection complete the look, complementing the dining space and keeping the whole zone feeling connected.
The Upstairs Living Room
Head upstairs and you will find a second living room that feels modern and inviting. A charcoal channeled-fabric love seat and swivel chair set steal the show with their cozy depth, paired beautifully with a sculptural tan arched bookcase for an on-trend, airy look.
Here, Barb had a little fun with nostalgia: "I used a chocolate brown sofa with blue curtains, which was exactly the kind of combination we were seeing in the design world in the early 2000s, and it’s back again today. I personally love the move back to a more colorful palette.” - Barb
The light blue curtains and throw pillows that those warm browns pair perfectly with are in a shade of blue we’re calling “Powder Blue Skies”. (if you saw our Powder Blue Skies Color of the Year post, you will recognize the vibe instantly).
A pair of brown wood nesting coffee tables, a slim sofa table, and a modern table lamp round out the room, all layered over two richly textured rugs for warmth underfoot.
The Primary Bedroom
As you move past the upstairs living room, you get to the main bedrooms of the home. In these rooms, Barb wanted to show a juxtaposition between timeless, classic pieces and the fun, trendy looks that are dominating design right now.
The primary bedroom kicks things off on the classic side, with calming creams and warm earth colors built around the Minneapolis bedroom collection, a king panel bed paired with matching nightstands and a dresser. This is furniture made to last, the kind of investment piece you keep for years.

One of Barb's favorite touches is the cozy conversation nook she created using the Capri Dining Chairs:
“The Capri Dining Chairs were perfect for the bedroom. People love having seating in the bedroom, and I loved the Capris because they allowed me to create a compact, space-friendly seating area that looks great. I carried this same idea into the kids rooms too. Remember, just because it's a dining chair doesn't mean it has to go in the dining room." - Barb
A matching dresser, a glowing table lamp, and a chic hexagonal mirror complete the retreat, all layered over a luxurious, large-scale patterned rug.
The Girls Bedroom
The girls room is all about that trendy, curvy, cozy look. The Santa Barbara Upholstered Bed brings the soft, fur-covered, curvy silhouette that is everywhere in design right now, paired with a curvy wood mirror and whimsical mushroom-print bedding for a playful, dreamy feel.
Just like the primary bedroom, a dining-chair-turned-accent-chair brings easy, stylish seating into the room without crowding it. A slim nightstand and hidden-storage ottomans with tray tops add smart, tucked-away storage. A floral rug ties the whole sweet space together.
The Boy’s Bedroom
The boys room leans into trends with retro metal beds and modern colors.
Barb chose two low-profile twin beds for a very intentional reason:
"I liked the Transitional Metal Beds because they don't overwhelm the space. They are lower to the ground, they don't have footboards, and you can see through the metal spindles on the headboards, so they were great for making the space feel more open." - Barb
Bonus: those lower beds still leave room for under-bed storage, which is a win in any smaller home. Terra cotta tufted bedding and a mixed patterned full set add modern color, while a matching nightstand and dresser keep things tidy. A warm table lamp and a speckled area rug finish the room with personality.
The Basement
The finished basement is built for living, with a comfy seating area on one side and an office-slash-game room zone on the other. The Regent Leather Sofa and Leather Chair (Coming soon to Furniture Row) are the anchors here, and they are another one of Barb's definite "made to last" picks.
Echoing the upstairs living room, the space keeps that earthy brown base with playful pops of color in the rug and pillows. A pair of accent tables with marble-look tops help lighten the room, while a creamy modern sideboard serves as a chic TV stand.
On the work-and-play side, a wood writing desk with hutch and file storage, a swivel desk chair, and a pub table with stools turn the basement into the ultimate hangout, all set over a colorful watercolor-print area rug.

The Basement Bedroom
The basement bedroom keeps things modern with curved wood pieces, layered bedding, and bright white marble accents to keep the space feeling light.
Cozy, mix-and-match bedding layers in warmth and comfort, and the Sundar 2 Door Sideboard brings beautiful, natural storage to the room with its solid wood construction and hand-carved detailing. A sleek mercury glass table lamp and a soft ivory area rug finish this welcoming guest retreat.
A Dream Home With Heart
From the modern living spaces to the cozy, layered bedrooms, every detail of this year's Colorado Springs Dream Home reflects thoughtful design and real-life livability. Barb added unique touches to each room of the home, but her favorite part of the project was getting the chance to give back:
“Every year, I look forward to this project more than anything else we do. Staging the St. Jude Dream Home is such a meaningful experience because you know it is going to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families. St. Jude is such an incredible organization, and being even a small part of what they do is something I truly cherish." - Barb
Every beautifully styled room is a reminder that this giveaway is about something bigger than furniture. With every $100 ticket, you are helping St. Jude Children's Research Hospital continue its life-saving mission, and bringing hope to families when they need it most. So come take a tour, find your favorite room, and imagine the possibilities. Whether you are inspired by the design or driven by the cause, this is so much more than a giveaway. It is a way to give back.
